Foreword

The village has developed principally around the original nucleus of the historical centre known as Sas Rocchittas, which refers to a fortified sheltered hamlet; in effect, a good part of it is naturally protected by a steep rocky calcareous wall. The roads are brightly illuminated by the sun and still preserve particular suggestive glimpses where it is possible to imagine that until a few years ago the simple houses of the Thiesini alternated with the more humble one floor buildings, with stone walls bound in mortar and straw and covered with roof tiles, and more recent buildings in sober style, often enriched with decorative pieces (jambs and architraves) and with iron lunettes situated above the main doors.
